Inferences

The other day one of my Grade Four Teachers came to me asking about resources for teaching Inferences to her fourth grade student.  She showed me a few that she had found but she was searching for other ideas and resources that were free.
I set out in search of some low tech and high tech resources for her to use.  I found quite a few that I then shared with her and one of the other grade four teachers.  Both teachers were quite happy with some of the items I found for them.

Picture Puzzle Predictions pretty basic activity where you click on the squares to reveal the image, the idea behind this one is that you should be able to predict the image before you remove all the squares.

What can you infer? Quia - on inferences, an online quiz.

Inference Battleship Played like any online battleship game but when you get a hit you're asked a inference question.

Making Inferences and Drawing Conclusions this site lets you pick the questions you like and create a worksheet, but you do need to sign up to be able to take full advantage of this site.

Low Teach Inference Resources

What is in my teacher's bag The inspired Apple describes this activity in detail, but I like this one as an introductory activity, where the students make inferences about the contents of your bag, or perhaps even one of your desk draws.

You make the call a worksheet with short answer questions that require students to use inference to make an inference about what happens next.

Inference Worksheet from teachers's pay teachers, though it's technically a grade 1 worksheet, it was good resource for out grade 4 ELD students. He/she also has a great website worth checking out. I did find a free copy of this worksheet here on the Have Fun Teaching Website.
